13.5 - Gauntlet - NDB/NPS
NDB/NPS is the barebones category of the gauntlet. The huge run-up that you use in the main category to start the gauntlet at high speeds is PROHIBITED, and so are frag boosts. Your only speedgain is raw movement skill.
I boycotted these categories the past couple years, (because as I've said they are stupid and they suck and should not exist,) but I was inspired while watching some top runs on the leaderboard, and have spent the past few days de-rusting and grinding. (Did this at 5am EST this morning.) This was certainly the harder one of the two NPS categories. Zet is a very skilled gamer.
Also, yeah, SURPRISE!! Double upload! Take this as an apology for me not uploading multiplayer again...

In the NPS/DB category, you CAN damage boost, you just can't enter the gauntlet with excessive velocity. Which means the strat is to hit the gauntlet trigger, then immediately hit two fragboosts to hit 90kph, and then do the normal gauntlet thing where you go fast until the end!!! This could definitely go lower, but as with most things gauntlet, it would require a complete lack of sanity -or cost you what sanity you have- to try pushing it any further. Also could improve my crouch kicks, but that requires dedication to this game, which I don't approve of. My first sub 10 any% gauntlet. And definitely not the last. It feels good. I hit every crouch kick this run and still have some room to practice routing. True sub 10 will happen for sure... Just gonna take more time. I'm slowly but also not so surely getting better at crouch kicks. On keyboard, the strat is to bind two keys to jump and crouch that you can press with one finger but I don't have such an elegant option. Wallkicks, airstrafing, and slidehopping. There are tutorials out there for them. I personally learned from Bryonato's speedrun tutorial but there are probably others out there that are newer and more comprehensive

How do you get to 50 KPH? Highest i can do is like 41..
You have to jump off of walls nearly the instant you start wallrunning. This gives you the boost of jumping off before you can be slowed by the contact. And the timing is deceptively tight so it takes a lot of practice. Airstrafing is also used to gain small amounts of speed but mainly to reduce harsh impacts with walls because that takes more speed. In short it's multiple things that work together to maximize speed gain and minimize speed loss.

It is definitely harder than it looks. Lots to consider that isn't obvious on the surface. If you're just starting out with taking gauntlet a bit more serious, definitely set your sights on something attainable and work your way down!

I dunno. I haven't been doing gauntlet recently and don't care to stream anything else. I've been playing blood dragon recently, so if I streamed, it would probably be that. But there wouldn't be much of a point because most people only care for Titanfall

How did you keep at 50 kmph?
It's actually well above 50, that's just the speedometer cap. You can see the real speeds on the board at the end. The answer is basically minimizing surface contact, and gaining speed with airstrafing and wallkicks.
